Step 5: Data Extraction

Once you have selected studies for inclusion in your review you can extract relevant data. The CAMARADES database can currently be used to record extracted data, please contact us for more information. This facility is coming soon to the SyRF applications framework.

Details of the data you plan to extract should be set out in your protocol and might include study design and quality characteristics and study outcomes.

To reduce bias and human error it is advised to have more than one researcher independently extract data. To deal with any disagreements, the independent extractors can discuss discrepancies with input from an additional review author if necessary.
